The Board of Trustees for West Blount Fire and Emergency Medical Services District met at Fire Station No. 1 on June 10, 2021, the meeting began at 7:25 PM led by Marty Stover, Vice Chair, with prayer by Dolores Fort.  Two Trustees were present plus Zac Williams, representing JJ Ivey, Melissa Thomas, Treasurer, and Diane Cox and Lisa Morgan, Billing Managers.   Since there was no quorum,  decisions and motions were not presented, but reports were given.     

The minutes of the May 13, 2021 meeting were read.

Financial report – The operating balance for June was $449,657.55.  Total receipts were $20,326.79, including dues of $17,890.73.  Total expenses were $1661,941.91, including payroll of $25,056.61, and defibrillators $125,000 (paid in May, cleared the bank in June).  

Chief’s Report

Total calls for June were 160, including 9 out-of-area (2 – Bangor; 7 – Nectar/Cleveland): 80 medical, 1 structure fire, 7 auto accident, 4 fire alarm, 1 vehicle fire, 54 public service, 2 wild fire, 1 fire other, 10 tree down.  Breakdown by station = Sta. 1 Hayden, 78; Sta. 2 Smoke Rise, 71; Sta. 3 Sugar Creek, 8; Sta. 4 Nyota, 3.  

The ISO inspection was finished on Station 4.  We should know something by next week.

Old Business

Billing Update – At the end of June there were three total CLA’s (conditional lien agreements) are on file.  The attorneys have a total of 229 accounts, 14 paid in full.  A check  for $8,425.73 from MSN (Massey, Stotser, & Nicholas) for April and May collections.   One new account was added in June.  There was 1 exemption approved, making a total of 114 so far for the year.  Fire dues received in June was $17,635.73, plus $255 assessment fees, and $2,379.32 Blount County Health Care Medical Reimbursement, totaling $20,270.05 [income from June 2020 was $19,410.40].  Total collected for 2021 is $447,769.23.  There are 989 accounts in the system with a balance totaling $345,942.81 at the end of June, which includes all outstanding dues from the beginning. There are 3,743 total accounts in the system.  So far this year there has been 74% participation for payment of fire dues.  

The office will be closed August 3 and 4 to accommodate bus training for the beginning of the new school year.
